Asieso is a small relaxed town, located just a few kilometres North of Jaca. Not many people live here. Probably its most notable feature is the parochial church, which dates back to the 12th Century.
The Romanesque church of San Andreas is located on a hill. In ancient times it was used as a place to watch the transit of travelling Jacobees crossing the bridge of San Miguel. Its design is simple and sober. The interior is dark and mystical, with a strong medieval feel.
In the front of the church, there is a beautiful semicircular apse, which reflects Lombardo art in its purest state.
The exterior of the church is much more attractive than the inside. The outside wall of the apse displays a beautiful Lombardo decoration. It makes a very pleasing sight. |
