Located in the Jaca municipality, Banaguas is a picturesque little village. It is has an altitude of 813 metres, and is 74kms from Huesca. In the 1990s it had a population of 50 inhabitants.

The village square is small and pretty. It is home to a number of houses that are typical of the Pyrenees. They look like something out of a postcard.

The Casa de la Abadía (house of the Abbey) is probably the most impressive. Its detailed working and monuments stand out against the others. The house is connected to the church of San Juan de Bautista, by an arch.

San Juan Bautista was built in the Eleventh Century. The church has an impressive Lombard apse, which is typical of Romanesque style.

In the 17th century, they transformed the church. It was extended, and the inside was redesigned in baroque style. In 1889, it was changed again. A bell tower was erected at the foot of the church.
