The food here is delicious. Although, often quite simple, portions tend to be bigger; perfect for those pursuing strenuous outdoor activities. Outdoor activities and sports as skiing, snowboarding, trekking or horse riding and fine cuisine go hand in hand in this part of the Pyrenees. Here you can try a wide variety of French or Spanish cuisine.
In general, there is a tendency towards the traditional dishes; strong, tasty recipes, based on the meat, milk and vegetable products of each region.
The restaurants in the Pyrenees serve numerous homegrown and international wines. In this region, the type of wine varies quite considerably depending on the area. A number of fine table wines are produced in the Basque country, whereas, on the Mediterranean cost, sweet aperitif wines are a good choice. |
